Canberrian/Melbournian three piece Super Best Friends (SBF) dropped the video for their single Dog Whistling yesterday, and by god, it’s a good time.
Dog Whistling, taken from their upcoming LP Status Updates (out March 20 through Gun Fever Records), is as quick, edgy and exciting as you’d hope for from SBF.
The video was created by Canberra-based designer Emma Fish and is one epic piece of art. It’s 3 minutes and 21 seconds of hand drawn animation that covers the hotly debated topic of asylum seekers in Australia.
Fish and SBF attack the current political standpoint on the issue with the help of popular website Mumbrella and the general knowledge that ‘White Australians’ are actually ‘Boat People’ in the first place. Good point, right?
Anyway, watch this, it’s the perfect thing to lift you out of that midweek slump.
