Kinko Piano, the groovy, hip cat exhibition space run above the Ellington Jazz Club, is hosting a “hand picked selection of majorly talented artists” this Thursday. Artists on the night include Jarrad martyr, David Ledger, Liam Dee, Ned Reilly, Michael Cuellar and Zafir. If that all wasn’t enough to get you down there, the person with the best gloves on wins a prize – we can only assume it’s fantastic.

From a new theatre company, Emergence Co., comes a production that features the poetry and prose of Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson, and incorporate physical theatre, poetry and storytelling, accompanied by an indie folk soundtrack. What more could you want, really?

You know The Big Splash, right? It’s the crew who dish out $10k to a local band who their expert judges deem to be the most exciting, brilliant, up and coming musicians around. From over 200 entrants in 2015, The Big Splash whittled it down to just 32, and to celebrate they’re throwing one hell of a party. They’ll be having Pat Chow, Dream Rimmy and a whole host of others playing on the night too – get down and get groovy.

Gentle Steps With An Open Mouth is Melbourne-based sound improviser and experimental vocalist, Alice Hui-Sheng Chang’s performance, which incorporates employing sound varying from the calm to the extreme to create an awareness of the acoustic properties of the site. This might be unusual for some but it’s bound to be beautiful and intriguing.
