After the media storm Joe Hockey created with his out-of-touch ‘get a good job’ comments, Abbott’s joined in with some even more worrying opinions – this time on wind turbines.
When speaking to infamous radio host Alan Jones, Tony claimed wind turbines may have “potential health impacts”. He further elaborated “when I’ve been up close to these wind-farms, not only are they visually awful but they make a lot of noise…”.
But it’s Hockey who’s the veteran in attacking renewable energy. Back in 2014, again with Alan Jones in, he stated: “I drive to Canberra to go to parliament and I must say I find those wind turbines around Lake George to be utterly offensive. I think they’re a blight on the landscape.”
Given these are the stupidest comments made by the government since – oh, two days ago – opposition leader Bill Shorten was having a field day. “There’s Tony Abbott at it again, now he’s anti-windmills“.
The Greens senator Larissa Waters also commented: “We sort of knew this was his view but he came right out and said it this morning. This is a prime minister who does not like clean energy.”
