The Rottofest 2015 Lineup Will Get You Pumped Like it’s Schoolies Again

Words by: J. W Denholm

Time to get excited – Perth’s best comedy and music event is back again. The line-up for Rottofest 2015 has been announced, and the seventh annual comedy and music festival looks to be the best one yet. The line-up consisting of 18 comedy performers and 11 music acts is officially all killer – no filler

This  year’s  headline  comedy  acts  feature  triple  j  Breakfast  presenter Matt  Okine who  returns  to Rottofest after winning ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Festival in 2011, Irish-born bearded funny man Dave Callan, American comedian and TV star Eddie Ifft, Australian comedy legend Fiona O’Loughlin, Los Angeles  Comedian  of  the  Year  Award  recipient Al  Del  Bene,  Pakistani  comedian  and  writer Sami Shah, sharp  witted  and  daringly  clever  Chris  Wainhouse,  actress  and  comedian Rebecca  De Unamuno, plus local favourites Colin Ebsworth, Rory Lowe and heaps more.

If you do get down to Rottofest (and you should) I strongly recommend making sure you catch Sami Shah.  He’s one of the best comics I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. With two upcoming fringe shows you know he’s got plenty of great new material for the fans.

You also can’t go past Matt Okine, and he doesn’t get over to Perth much so it’s a rare opportunity to see the comedic gem in action.

Set to the beautiful backdrop of Thomson Bay, Rottofest’s music line-up boasts a perfect mix of acts that will bring the party vibes for yet another year in a row. Rottofest 2015 is hosting Sydney’s long-time favourite electronic dance trio Art vs Science and fellow Sydneysiders and hip-hop crew Jackie Onassis.  Local  rising  talent  includes hip-hop emcee Coin  Banks,  downbeat  electronic  darlings Lilt, Our  Man  in  Berlin, Angus  Dawson, Dianas and Jacob Diamond plus DJ sets from Micah, Genga and NDORSE.

Whether you’re biking it from a comedy show to see some of the best music acts going around, or the island’s casual atmosphere, picturesque scenery and some of the world’s finest beaches, Rottofest has you fully covered.

Don’t stress about getting there and back either. Departing from Fremantle, Rottnest Express are providing discounted return ferries to Rottofest from $39 per person with a special late night Ferry service back to the mainland at 11pm. Hillarys Boat Harbour offer a $42.50 return ferry with a 10.45pm return service on the night. As usual, accommodation options are available on Rottnest Island for those who want to make a weekend of it, though as usual, you’ll probably get arrested if you decide to just camp it out with the quokkas.

This year’s festival will run from 11am – 11pm.
