Who are you and what music do you make?
We are HUSSY: a five-piece garage band from Perth who makes music exclusively to people with ears. If you don’t have ears you probably won’t like our music. We play garage punk with pop melodies and a heavy 90s RnB influence.
What is your fondest In the Pines memory?
For a few of us we’ll be popping our Pines cherry! We’ll be like Bambi: lost, curious, excited and ready to meet a few new friends… Marcia, our bass player, attended a few years ago and ended up having a casual drink with Atlas Mountain – no biggie.
What makes the event so special?
This is HUSSY’s first In the Pines and our first music festival! We’ve wanted to play this gig for years – in the past we’d always tune into RTR on the day if we missed out on tickets, so this is like a mini dream come true for us.
What other bands are you looking forward to catching on the day?
We can’t wait to check out Tired Lion, Peter Bibby, Verge Collection, Jacob Diamond and The Pissedcolas.
The UWA Sommerville Auditorium is home to both Norfolk Island Pines (Araucaria heterophylla) and Western Australian Peppermint trees (Agonis flexusosa), do you have any particular preference between the two?
Ask Shin – she’s the horticulturalist! From a quick Google we’re going to go with the Norfolk Island Pines; purely for aesthetics.
What can we expect from your set?
Goofing around, awkward dancing, high-pitched giggling and a band who can’t stop pinching themselves.
