RTRFM Winter Music Festival Quickies – Los Porcheros

Words By: Laurent Shervington

Who are you what music do you make?

We are Los Porcheros, who despite our ethnic sounding name are not a mariachi band though we do one Mexican themed tragic song. We are a mostly five, sometimes four-piece who love folk / country Americana rootsy stuff with a special place for harmony singing.

Do you think there is a dichotomy between Fremantle and Perth in terms of music scenes?

Most definitely.

What do you think of when you hear the word ‘Winter’? Any tips for staying warm?

I think of Game of Thrones and how long it’s been since the last series and I’ll have forgotten everything when it comes to watching the new one. Tip, wear clothes.

Any other bands on the lineup you’re looking forward to seeing?

Most of the bands at our venue are mates of ours and once we get chatting and telling each other how great we are there is little time for anything else but seeing as you asked … Red Engine Caves.

What can we expect from your set?

You can expect songs that are passionate and heart-wrenching, some are mysterious and dark while others are just joyous and irreverent, with two songwriters mixing it up and sharing lead vocal duties.
